Back to Work ! :(

Just to let everyone know that I am going back to work on Feb 26th! Or should I say I am starting my first real job?
The good news is that it is just Tuesdays and Thursdays (and the occasional Saturday, but only 1/2 days on Saturday). Rudi arranged his schedule in March so that he is off all Tues/Thursdays, so we don't HAVE to bring Samuel to daycare during Feb or March. We will use that time to get him (and us) used to daycare, since I fear the transition might be difficult.
We had hoped not to do daycare at all (just have Rudi not work when I am), but it turns out that 1) it will be difficult on the person scheduling Rudi's shifts to make the schedule that way and 2) if Rudi arranges his schedule as I noted above, he won't get any Sundays off, and he and I will barely get any time off together. So, we feel at this point that it will be best for our FAMILY if we do have Samuel enrolled in a daycare program for the days that I am working (unless Rudi is off).

I am all keyed up about this job--it's been over 8 months since I've practiced medicine (granted I've studied for the boards and have been doing unofficial ER "consults" with Rudi via telephone), and getting back into it will take a little getting used to. I am going to try to use the next 2 weeks to refresh my memory on some stuff.

Congrats! You are going to do great. I know you are nervous after so much time off (I was!), but it will all come back. I'm sure once Samuel gets used to daycare, he'll love his new little friends and the chance to socialize. And, with this schedule you'll love the balance of getting to spend lots of time being mommy, but having your chance to help the kids on the island too! Way to go! Call you tonight.

Expect to cry the first few times you have to leave little Samuel at daycare. I think it will be good for him. He'll probably end up loving it, and making friends!

This is great news. I hope that you still want me to come out and I can even be your sitter for those2 weeks. Day care is also great, too! I hated leaving Morgan, and started with just a babysitter/nanny, but she really flourished when she went to a regular daycare.
